On the hunt: Unni Pedersen (NO)

Interview with Unni, Street Art Cities hunter from Bergen, Norway

Name: Unni Pedersen

Occupation: Librarian

Hometown: Bergen, Norway

Hunting territory: Mostly Bergen, Oslo and Stavanger. I love to travel. I’m also visiting Aberdeen in June. Later this autumn, I will be travelling to København and Paris.

Member of Street art cities community since: June 2017

Tell us a bit about yourself. I like to take photographs, especially since I am very fascinated by all the art that exists in the streets. There is an active environment in Bergen between those who hunt street art and the street art artists themselves. This interest formed new friendships. I go out hunting for new pieces couple of times per week, so sometimes I do it alone and sometimes I do it together with other street art fanatics.

Does your current occupation match with your childhood dreams? NO, my dream was to be a photographer, but I’m working in an oil company.

You can see my work on:

>Instagram

Tell us about your connection with street art. I have been interested in street art for 5–6 years. A few years ago, I was on sick leave for a while. All that spare time led me to discover how much street art there is in Bergen. It was not like a special event or anything, but it helped me to pass the time while I was sick.

My most recent discovery in the street art scene is:

Christian Guemy a.k.a. C215.

Made by C215

My biggest street art crush is: It happened when I found a “hummingbird” of Hamma Woods in Oslo. I have asked several people where to find it. I found it at once and immediately fell in love with the piece. Unfortunately, I still haven’t been able to discover who the artist is.

Local artist that in my opinion deserves more exposure:

>Afk artworks

>Aka JOY

Besides street art, I am most passionate about: Traveling, meeting my friends and reading.

In my free time, I like to: Except for photography and street art, it’s my family and friends.

My current musical obsession is: Leonard Cohen.

The last film I watched was: I cannot remember.

The last book I read was: A book by a Norwegian author Jo Nesbø called Snowman. In a few months there’s going to be a movie based on this book, so I’m looking forward to that!

The website that consumes most of my time is: Nothing comes to my mind.

My hunting kit includes:

What I like most about hunting street art: To discover tiny hidden gems in places, which are not easily accessible.

As a street art hunter, I would love to visit: London and Brighton. Also, an island outside Bodø (Norway) called Røst, where UpNorth festival takes place.

The biggest challenge of being a hunter is: To be the first one to find a new art piece.

The best piece of advice I can give to newbie hunters is: To contact IG-users from your area and ask them for advice. Also, if you’re about to visit a new town, don’t hesitate to ask for help and tips from local iG users.

What is one artwork that people need to see in your hunting territory?
