The Italy-based digital books distributor StreetLib has signed an agreement with SureRemit, the #1 blockchain-enabled platform for sending non-cash value anywhere in the world.

StreetLib CEO Giacomo D’Angelo said,

As a leading global distributor of digital book content with publishing portals in 75 countries and plans to be worldwide by end 2019, StreetLib needs to be able to pay royalties to authors and publishers all over the world. We also need to allow readers anywhere in the world to buy books from our international ebook store.

That’s a challenge in countries where banking is not developed and where Paypal isn’t an option. So we are delighted to announce that we have added SureRemit to our payment options for authors, publishers and readers.

SureRemit utilizes the blockchain and the Remit token (RMT) to facilitate global payments, allowing StreetLib authors and publishers worldwide to be paid instantly with negligible fees. Users of the SureRemit app receive the RMT token in their in-app wallet and the RMT can then be spent on leading brand vouchers/gift cards to purchase groceries, clothing, medicines, school fees, mobile top-ups, pay bills and more. SureRemit’s global merchant network is growing exponentially, offering vouchers/gift cards for merchants in Africa, Asia, USA, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Europe and more countries are underway. StreetLib will also add a ‘StreetLib voucher’ to the SureRemit platform, which can be used to purchase books from the StreetLib store.

SureRemit CEO, Olaoluwa Samuel-Biyi said:

We’re very excited about the partnership with StreetLib. It’s a great example of utilizing the blockchain and SureRemit platform to facilitate instant and very low fee cross-border payments. Working with StreetLib is a great fit for us; we both want to serve the unbanked and underserved population.

StreetLib CEO, Giacomo D’Angelo added:

StreetLib has been dealing with traditional financial institutions since 2006 to pay authors and publishers, but as we accelerate our global expansion programme as part of our vision to enable any author or publisher anywhere in the world the chance to publish and reach readers anywhere in the world, we need to be able to offer truly global payment solutions which increasingly involve the unbanked in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Thanks to SureRemit, we have a solution to this problem. We can pay our unbanked customers using their RMT token, which is transferred to their in-app wallet instantly, with almost-zero fees, without any financial intermediation. They can then use the RMT tokens as they like, thanks to the global SureRemit merchant network.

This technology makes sending and receiving value as easy as sending and receiving emails, and helps to level the playing field. In a world where almost half the world’s adults do not have bank accounts, SureRemit enfranchises more people to participate in the global digital economy.

The fast-evolving digital currency technologies create a new world of opportunities for exchanging value between people and organizations across the globe. At StreetLib, we are committed to engaging with these new technologies to make our global publishing platform more efficient and more accessible to authors, publishers and readers, no matter where in the world they live.
