Stribling Insiders: Dan Critchett
Dan found his way to Stribling after a lengthy stint on Wall Street — and lucky for us! He travels to and from appointments on bike (hence his picture), and is quick to find the humor in most everything, including floor plans. We caught up with Dan to chat about why he chose Stribling to grow his real estate career, his enterprising property moves in Florida, and why he might just be the only person we know who lists lima beans as a favorite food.
When did you first get into residential real estate and why?
Had been a real estate investor for many years, so when I left my job on Wall Street it was easy to go into something I loved doing already — I was just doing it for others this time.
What is your favorite part about being a real estate agent?
Imagining what I’d do with all the badly-designed property I get to see.
Why did you choose Stribling & Associates?
Stribling was the only firm I considered. I wanted to be in a first-class seat on a first-class airline.
Do you have a favorite neighborhood and why?
Nope. I see the charms and benefits of every neighborhood I’ve ever been in, and imagine myself living in any one of them.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Mountain bike, hang glide, binge watch Netflix.
What is an achievement of which you are most proud?
Buying enough apartments in a Florida condominium to have effective control of the entire building, leading the unit owners in a campaign to purchase 7 adjacent waterfront acres and a marina, then incorporating it all into the common elements of the condominium, tripling values for every unit owner (including me).
Favorite book?
A Perfect Spy — John le Carré
Favorite movie?
Out of Africa
Favorite travel destination?
Lauterbrunnen Valley, Switzerland
Favorite Meal?
Pot roast, potatoes and lima beans.
If you weren’t a real estate agent, what would you be?
Sane.
What else should we know about you?
I’ve had nine lives, professionally speaking.
