Time again for the weekly reading list and this week we’ve included some interesting reads on algorithm design, artificial intelligence technology, and virtual reality in the brand world.

Algorithms present the opportunity to push the limits of a given design practice and are increasingly being used as a design technique. The article Algorithm design seven million different jars of Nutella shows how, by defining one special algorithm, Nutella created seven million different packaging designs.

North Face uses technology to improve its online shopping experience with Personal Intelligent Shopper an artificial intelligence technology powered by IBM Watson. The program is dedicated to help you find the perfect jacket by asking questions like “where and when will you be using the jacket” and it’s a good example of how brands may connect and engage with customers in the digital age.
