Inside this week’s reading list, we share inspiring insights on Japanese culture, how to address the latest challenges in design as well as tomorrow’s visual trends.

Fonts come in all forms and sizes, and the task of picking the right one is one of the most common visual decisions a designer makes. Font Map is a tool created by designers at IDEO that helps the decision making process and it’s inspiring to see how machine learning and Al can be a valuable tool in solving daily design challenges.

Berlin’s EyeEm has just released their forecast on visual trends for the upcoming season. Driven by a strong community of 20 million photographers, EyeEm’s predictions might be more precise than tomorrow’s weather forecast.

In order to bring design and development closer together, the engineers at Airbnb have combined the superpowers of React.js and Sketch to create a real game changer. Out of the desire to minimize sources of truth Airbnb has done a huge step forward and we all know that there’s more to come.
