FireStride Chats occur on Thursdays at 5:00 PM UTC in the official Stride Discord. You can find a recordings of FireStride Chats on the Stride Community Youtube.

In the latest FireStride Chat, Stride contributors Riley and Summer discuss Stride’s one-year anniversary, major integrations, surprise airdrops, and more!

  • Stride celebrated its one-year anniversary bon September 4th, 2022. Over the past year, dedicated contributors have tirelessly ensuring the network’s smooth functioning. From its humble beginning with a single liquid stakes token ATOM, Stride has expanded to over ten tokens and secured a significant market share in Cosmos. They’ve executed airdrops to over ten chains and undergone 14 upgrades, potentially setting a record in Cosmos. The 2023 roadmap reveals that most of the year’s plans have been realized, with contributors now focusing on advanced features, such as research-oriented ones. Additionally, the team of contributors has expanded, sharing many memorable moments together.
  • The Cosmos Hub is introducing a liquid staking module (LSM) that is set to go live next Wednesday. This upgrade will enable more streamlined and safer liquid staking practices. The key features of the LSM include: limiting liquid staked assets to only 25% of all stake, introducing a validator bond which requires validators to risk their own capital before accepting liquid staking delegations, and allowing user to convert staked ATOMs to tokenized ATOMs swiftly without an unbonding period. While some view the LSM as a significant change, it’s fundamentally a regulatory framework that provides additional safeguards. For instance, the 25% cap ensures that no liquid staking provider can control more than one-third of the network, thus preventing potential transaction censorship. While new module introductions always carry inherent risks, extensive testing has been done by multiple teams to ensure its smooth integration. The LSM’s long-term impact is anticipated to mature the DeFi ecosystem in Cosmos, offering greater benefits to users and building trust.
  • Stride released three airdrops: Comdex, Sommelier, and Umee. Notably, the Sommelier, airdrop had a notably quick turnaround, deviating from Stride’s usual several-month gap between the launch of an airdrop and the corresponding chain. Details are available on Twitter, and claims can be made at https://app.stride.zone/airdrop. Following this release, the only pending airdrop is Injective, expected later in September.
  • Recently, Proposal 313 to increase protocol owned liquidity passed on Juno. As a result, Juno will contribute an additional 2 million JUNO to the Osmosis pool. This increase of liquidity will allow for Umee, and other markets, to increase limits on their JUNO deposits.
  • Next week, we’re launching a Cosmoverse poster art competition for the community. Participants will receive branding and artistic guidelines to create a stride Cosmoverse-themed poster. The winning design will be distributed as a free badge at our Cosmoverse booth. More details will be provided soon, offering a unique opportunity for community members to shape Stride’s brand presence at the event.
