Strippy — Comic Reading Platform Made In India

Welcome to Strippy! A home grown app for featuring the artists who project their ideologies, diverse views and culture through creative comics across multiple genres such as Comedy, Romance, Fiction, Slice of Life and much more.

Before you begin to go further down, we would like you to pause and ponder upon a question which is “Why inventions happen?”

We respect the variety of reasons that must have come across your minds. And here is our take on it.

The one thing that leads to a creation or an invention is the answer to a couple questions — Why? Or What problem will this solve? Something similar was the question which hit us here and then lead to creation of “Strippy — A Home grown app to support artists who create comics”. This is in accordance with the “Make In India” and the iconic “Atma Nirbhar Bharat” initiative.

Our aim at Strippy is to make sure that artists who post on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or other social media platforms are able to generate some revenue from their work and not just cling to social media reach and mere likes. After all, for an artist, likes do not substitute money when they have to pay their bills. It was when we decided that we built a platform where we can create an ecosystem of the reach of social media to highlight their work and also get their work monetized.

Our major challenge was not just limited to one but a sea of questions that we had to solve for the artists. We still remember the day, when we spoke to our very first artist. It was @CartoonistAlok. Mr. Alok is an editorial cartoonist who writes political satires. We were really not sure of how he would react to our proposal. And could only think of one question “Will he even respond to our communication given the busy schedule that he might have during the current(lock down) days?

Our first call with him, we spoke to him for about 5 minutes and our conversation’s main highlight was us telling him that we prefer to stand out from the rest of the other social media platform by not just giving your post the desired reach but also monetizing his posts. He was instantly more interested in understanding what we plan to do here, at Strippy.

Our major feedback that we could receive as a budding platform is the fact that we solve the problem of reach, revenue and recreation for all the artists who independently work to get their work recognized and then have to struggle to find a brand collaboration.

We as a platform do and always will strive hard to make sure that we always be the product that solves a problem for our dear and beloved artists and helps them connect with their audience better. And also keep on encouraging new users to come and join fun. After all, who does not love comics? Been a childhood dream of every grown man and woman who are today caught up in their work commitments and deadlines so bad that they desperately have to wait for weekends to be happy and bring back the smile on their faces. What we will make sure is that people are never too busy to smile and laugh.
