In 1995, we bought a surplus fire department ambulance, screwed down some HIGHLY illegal captain’s chairs in the back, and took off on a self-booked tour of America.

Part of business plan was that we would walk around malls with a Discman, putting headphones on people and asking if they wanted to buy our disc for $10.

On the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica, we put those headphones on the head of a guy named Jefferson Davis who was the American host of a Japanese entertainment show, which aired only in Japan. He liked our story, gave us a camera and a bunch of blank tapes, a crash course in how to frame shots, and sent us on our way, with the promise that we would send him installments at regular intervals. It is unconfirmed whether or not any of our segments aired in Japan.
