I had the pleasure of interviewing Lonnie McRorey, a seasoned technology leader with over 25 years of experience in the industry. He founded TeamStation AI, a revolutionary platform designed to build software engineering teams across Latin America for U.S. companies. Under his leadership, TeamStation AI has quickly gained popularity among U.S. CTOs for providing access to top tech talent at the touch of a button.

Thank you so much for joining us!

What motivated you to launch your startup?

The motivation behind launching TeamStation AI stemmed from recognizing a significant gap in the market for reliable, cost-effective engineering talent. Many U.S. companies struggle to find and retain skilled software engineers. I saw an opportunity to bridge this gap by leveraging the untapped potential in Latin America and providing a more efficient way of nearshoring with a fully automated system that clients have total control over to disrupt the industry. We aim to provide high-quality, nearshore IT staff augmentation that offers both affordability and excellence, all within an intelligent, self-learning system.

What is it that excites you about what you’re building?

What excites me most is the transformative impact of TeamStation AI on our clients and the talent we work with. For U.S. companies, we offer a streamlined, efficient way to build and manage engineering teams, which helps them innovate faster and more cost-effectively. For engineers in Latin America, we provide opportunities to work on cutting-edge projects and grow their careers. Seeing the success and growth on both sides is incredibly rewarding.

What has been your biggest challenge when growing your startup?

Our biggest challenge has been managing rapid growth while maintaining the high quality of service that sets us apart. Scaling operations quickly to meet increasing demand while ensuring we have the right processes and infrastructure in place has required a lot of strategic planning and execution. However, our dedicated team and robust platform have enabled us to overcome these hurdles.

What are your future plans for your startup?

We plan to expand our services to more regions and industries, continuously enhancing our platform with advanced AI capabilities to improve talent matching and project management. Our proprietary AI modeling and neural search technology eliminate the need for resumes and typical job descriptions, fully understanding human capacity. We also aim to forge stronger partnerships with U.S. companies, demonstrating the value of nearshore IT staff augmentation as a strategic advantage in the global market.

If you had to share “words of wisdom” with a Founder who’s about to start their own startup, what would they be?

I advise aspiring founders to stay deeply connected to their vision and relentlessly pursue it. Understand your market, listen to your customers, and be prepared to pivot when necessary. Building a startup is a marathon, not a sprint. Perseverance and adaptability are key, and it is crucial to focus on building what generates revenue right away. It’s not about the number of people in the company that makes it successful, but rather the quality of its talent that pushes the needle forward. Additionally, surround yourself with a strong team that shares your passion and commitment.
