I had the pleasure of interviewing Isaac Reed. A serial entrepreneur born and raised in the Bay Area, California. In addition to his 15 years of experience in software and tech, Isaac has founded multiple companies featuring 2 exits and has a vast amount of product and business experience. Isaac has just recently launched Titan — a software and wearable company that aims to personalize A.I. to enhance human potential. His goal… to put a dent in the universe.

What motivated you to launch your startup?

What motivated me to launch Titan was coming to the understanding that mankind is in a fast moving period where the downtrodden scenario of being left behind in the advancement of physical and intellectual capacity is becoming a concern. Contrary to popular opinion, I feel as though we’ve only reached a fraction of our peak in the evolutionary world. My goal is to ensure the enhancement of our ability as people to make more intelligent decisions and increase our productivity, peace, and longevity as a species.

What is it that excites you about what you’re building?

What excites me the most about what we’re doing with Titan is our unique strive to combine A.I. with hardware in a really unique way. I think where A.I. is concerned, at least non-generative A.I., you’re really looking at only a few road maps to where it can go — Either robotics, personalized hardware, or useful infrastructure. Our goal is to support a meaningful direction of A.I. and it excites me to know we’re taking an approach that will stand the test of time as this space evolves and grows. The possibilities are endless.

What has been your biggest challenge when growing your startup?

The biggest challenge in growing our startup is the same hurdle that every A.I. company must face, which is to ease the fear of early adopters. Society has its own stigma on A.I. at the moment, and thus we are making it our priority to ensure that people feel safe in our approach to integrating our products in the world.

What are your future plans for your startup?

Our goal and future plan is to go all the way until we can’t go any bigger, and then keep going.

If you had to share, “words of wisdom,” with a Founder who’s about to start their own startup, what would they be?

One of the main things I hear that really frustrates me is to “do what you’re passionate about”. I think a lot of founders will find that this doesn’t make sense when they soon grip the haunting talons of reality. I’m not passionate about going to the gym or eating sugar free. I do it because it gets me the results I want. The true strategy is in discipline rather than passion. It keeps you going during those moments of burnout. It keeps you focused and steady.

It is with that instance that passion is more of a draw of luck. So while I’m lucky to be passionate about A.I., the true nature of things is that not everyone will be lucky enough to find that passion. And even if we do, we still need the discipline to execute the vision we have.

In summary, my advice is that passion is overrated. Find a vision and then discipline yourself to execute it knowing it’s bigger than you are.
