I remember vividly, running home, crying, because my friend had been mean to me. My best friend. I don’t recall now exactly what she’d said, but it was one of those name-calling sessions BFFs sometimes get into for no good reason except one or the other of them is having a bad day. We so often behave the most hurtfully to those who are closest to us.
