Why Do You Act Like You Own Anything?

Nothing belongs to us.

Our cars, our friendships, our bodies. None of it is part of who we are.

This body that you’re taking care of right now is not yours, you don’t own it. Why? Because this body is changing every moment.

Take a picture of 4 year old you, or 13 year old you, and ask yourself, “Does he look like me?”, “Does that body look like it’s mine?”. Of course not. That body is gone, and so will this one that you currently have.

But what you did was to take care of it, long enough to see it grow to where you are now. And that’s what matters.

Each of is the steward not the owner of the body and its mind. Because both the mind and body are always changing, but the only thing that remains is our soul.

The mind you add “my”, you’re trapped. You are deluding yourself because nothing belongs to you. You have a temporary guardianship.

You came into a body while in your mother’s womb, and just before you know it, you left it behind after its use ran out.

So stop acting like you own anything. Everything is part of the collective universe. Your job here isn’t to go around and start acting like you own the place, but to be a good steward and take care of what you’ve been given to nourish and protect.
