Many students in high school often have part-time jobs, nearly 1 in 4 high school students were employed in 2014. They get jobs for many different reasons maybe because their parents make them, to save for college, or even because they want a little extra spending money, but how do they manage working on top of their already rigorous demands of school work.

In the article, Professional Students: Benefits and Risks of Working While in High School by Caitrin Blake wrote in 2015 she goes over many of the pros and cons of working while also explaining how much students are allowed to work. It talks about how it teaches students to learn how to budget early which is a skill many students don’t learn until later in their lives.

Many students who have jobs in high school are often involved in sports or other extra circulars through the school. All of these activities can fill up their schedule and put extra stress on them when sometimes they don't even have a choice as to whether or not they want a job.

There are many articles written for parents about the pros and cons to allowing a high school student to work, however many of these articles are written by professionals who have many degrees and haven’t been in high school for years. It would be more beneficial for parents to hear from students themselves who currently have jobs and who have actually experienced the pros and cons of working while in high school.
