A Simpler Way To Define Success

From the time we enter Kindergarten, the question we’re asked is, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” It’s suspicious how we instinctively respond, “A doctor. A lawyer. A teacher or a vet.” Seldom do our career choices stay the same because we go through different phases of life in finding ourselves. We change as we evolve, as do our interpretations of success. Today, Gen Z claims their adulthood upon achieving financial independence, their own apartment or home, and full-time employment. The question is: how do we achieve success?

In a perfect world, we’d have a job with good pay and passion- only 20% say they’ve achieved this. In the words of Warren Buffet, “the more you learn, the more you earn.” Saying this, don’t fear failure and waste your time wisely.

Accepting constructive criticism can contribute to your change and grow. In the process, do remember your performance in a task does not define your identity. Furthermore, reflect on your success so you can always have sight of the future and make room for future growth. On the other hand, wasting your time wisely can do far more than occupy your free time. Combined, these can create opportunities for you to learn about yourself and how you envision your future.
