The possibility of traveling, get an adventure, and fall in love with this small world is given to us in small doses that appear only on special occasions. For university students that medicine for the mind is called: exchange period. So, dear sick of your home, your culture, and your habits. Eat the pill to live and discover and make the quarantine on the other side of your border.

Change your country will open to you another different door in your mind. Yes, that is what you have to answer each time that they give you the opportunity to travel. Yes, you must say that when they ask if you are interested in new challenges. Yes, answer it whenever they propose a plan abroad.

Also, we are not going to deceive ourselves, when you go away out it is necessary to deal with your language’s skills and for those that we need to be pushed for to speak English, this one is your chance, take it! For those who are shy, don’t worry, will socialize. And for all of you that haven’t got those problems, go away too, travel is always welcome.

The key is to choose a country that brings you everything that you need or want. Said this, here there go a few factors to be born in mind at the time of choosing a country:

  • First of all, your budget. Once that you already know how much are you allowed to spend on transport, house or residence, etc… You could start choosing the best countries for you.
  • Choose one that you could improve the language that you really want to improve. For example, if you want to practise your English is better if you go to England than Italy.
  • Facility to validate subjects sometimes is a problem because of the different programs.
  • Watch out for currency change! It could be a huge difference in both senses: better or worse. Check it.
  • Residence permits and health insurance (especially if you live in the EU and you want to go abroad country)
  • Another factor to consider is the style of life that takes in these countries if you are not on the easy adaptation and the culture is completely different, it can be a problem. Make a small previous investigation.
  • Schedule changes, for those who need to talk with mom for 24 hours, can be difficult to carry.
  • The distance between the countries. I think that the more far better but don’t force yourself, each as best you think….
  • Accommodations that the destination offers you. If you are not very skillful with domestic tasks, you should take a deep look at your options.

Now, a piece of last personal advice: it is better to go away alone than with friends. Both can be wonderful experiences, I am sure, but go away alone provides to you this state of freedom and absolute autonomy, especially to the beginning of the adventure. What is cool is to start from the beginning and, although sounds egoist, make the experience completely yours.

This has been a small guide to begin planning your exchange and decide the country that best suits you!!!

Enjoy it!

PS: google maps will be your best friend 😉
