The standard four-year Bachelor’s degree is not the only way to start your dream career anymore. In fact, the demand for careers in the trades has gone up while many Bachelor’s degree holders are finding trouble landing employment after college. If you haven’t decided what career path you’re passionate about, it’s okay to stop and consider you options. You’ll save a lot of time, money, and headaches if you consider trade schools or community college first.

Community college is a great way to earn your general education credits and Associate’s degree without spending loads of money. The average annual tuition at a community college is about one third of the cost of a year at a four-year university. It’s a good option for those who want to try out a few different fields before transferring to university to finish their Bachelor’s or entering the workforce.

Trade school offers quick, hands-on education in a specialized career and most programs can be completed in less than two years. The average income five years after certificate completion matches and in some cases surpasses the income of community college and university graduates.
