You can never go wrong with a bagel and cream cheese. Whether you treat yourself after a day of studying, working, want to grab a bite to eat, play a board game, or work on homework with friends, Zoe’s Bagels at is the place to go. Zoe’s Bagels is located on the campus of Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington. WWU is right off of Interstate 5. It’s about 90 miles north of Seattle. Zoe’s is located in a prime location on campus, Wilson Library. It is close to the central part of campus such as Red Square, Old Main, the Performing Arts Center, Viking Union, and north campus dorm buildings. Zoe’s has some of the best bagels in the whole world. You’re given a wide selection of different bagels, toppings, schmears, and anything else you want to put in there to customize your own bagel or sandwich. You can grab some juice or a cup of Tony’s Coffee, a local coffee company, to go with your bagel.

As you walk into Zoe’s, your mouth instantly waters from the the overwhelming aroma of coffee, herbs, and toasted bagels. This makes it harder to resist the temptation of getting a bagel, even if the line is extremely long. It is a multipurpose place. You can see students working diligently on their laptops or conversing with other students about upcoming projects and what ideas they have for it. Some kids are sitting down on one of the recliners listening to music or relaxing in between classes. Professors and staff sit down for coffee and meetings. Others are just simply enjoying a delicious bagel. Kids sit across the table from their friends playing a board game intently.

The environment at Zoe’s has two different aspects to it. It is warm and relaxing. People are constantly greeting you with smiles. Another side of Zoe’s is very hectic. The workers are constantly taking people’s orders, making drinks, throwing in bread into the toaster, or grabbing food from the display case. The lines are long, especially during the prime hours or breakfast and lunch. Despite the differences, there is a weird but good balance between the two and they do not single each other out. Wilson Library’s atmosphere on the ground level add to that as well. There is a mutual understanding between the people there that some students are studying and some are there to hang out with their friends. This given atmosphere created by the library makes people want to go to the library, including Zoe’s, because nothing is better than some leisurely studying and a snack. It’s called Zoe’s Bookside Bagels for a reason.

Zoe’s has a wide range of selections to choose from. They have bagels, sandwiches, cookies, brownies, packaged snacks, even fruits and chips to accompany your bagel or sandwich. They have bagels such as your classic regular bagel, onion, garlic, poppyseed, and the everything bagel. They have schmears such as regular, sun-dried tomato, pesto, strawberry, and for those looking to watch their calories- low fat! They even have things to put inside like smoked salmon, lettuce, tomatoes, bacon, spinach, you name it- they have it. Zoe’s has breakfast sandwiches with eggs and bacon and regular sandwiches like the BLT. They have delicious chocolate chip and snickerdoodle cookies they can even heat up for you so it is nice, chewy, and warm when you first take a bite into it.

Zoe’s is one of the best places to go for a good bagel. Western Washington University is not far from Interstate-5. It is a good environment for you to get stuff done and work away if you do not mind a decent amount of chattering. Zoe’s is even a prime location to hold casual small group meetings whether you are a student or a professor or to just hang out. If you can’t make it to Zoe’s Bookside Bagels while in Bellingham, you’re missing out.
