An Underrated Perspective
If I didn’t write this article, and you weren’t reading this, then the both of us would have been doing something completely different. Were we going to do something more productive, or nothing at all? This is something that keeps me up at night, what if I did that thing I was too scared to do, and if things would have been a lot more different. This is generally called the Butterfly Effect, where an event no matter the size could change the course of the universe. Thinking about this effect helped me step out of my comfort zone and explore more out of what I already know, for example starting to write and share my ideas online.
If it helps you, do it
If the act that scares you is beneficial to you in any form, you should do it. Stepping out of your comfort zone isn’t just for the thrill of it, its also to help you grow as a person. I like to compare stepping out of your comfort zone and Butterfly Effect because when applied, it shows you the different outcome of how things could have been better for you if you had stepped out of your comfort zone. If you joined speech and debate, the worst that can happen is that you freeze up on stage, but maybe it could have been a pivotal moment in your life where you find something you’re passionate about.
