After months of waiting, I finally got to lock myself away and dive into the horror show, The Quarry — I can honestly say it has been a tense but exciting few nights.

In the typical Supermassive style, the outcome of your game depends on the choices and actions you make for each playable character.

Do not be fooled by the classic Summer Camp horror stereotype because when it comes to playing the game as you think you know what is about to happen — you are proven very wrong! There are so many aspects of the game I can talk about, but no one likes spoilers — I will focus on a few of my favourite features of this game instead.

The Visual Filter Pack
Being able to change the aesthetic of the game was a cool new feature. Players can pick from different cinematic visual filters which depict different styles of horror filmmaking: 80s horror, Indie horror and B&W Classic horror. Something that created a new experience each time I played the game.

Death Rewind
After my first play-through, I was practically killing everyone. By the end of the game, I had unlocked the Death Rewind feature, which allows you a second attempt at the game. Should you make one wrong choice, it could cost you a character life but fear not. With this feature, you luckily get a second chance to survive Hackett’s Quarry.

The Music
The music throughout the game added to the ambience and emotion. It is the overlooked/unexpected things that make the game.

The Art
This game is just beautiful. A lot of effort went into the game, from the environment to the characters. There are loads of paths to take and loads to explore. There was also something about the character interaction that made each scene feel believable.

Easter eggs!!!
There are loads of Easter eggs throughout the game — I am a sucker for this!

After playing the game twice, we managed to save everyone but Jacob (sorry!!!). Overall, a fantastic game by Supermassive! All expectations were met, from comedic comments to jump scares.

Hope to see you around the campfire soon.
