The main goal of any website is to communicate information, interact with its users, pursue business goals and so forth. It is certainly not to hang on a wall, beautiful and useless.

But does this mean web design cannot be a form of art?

An artistic, visually inspiring website does not necessarily take away from its practical goals. For example, it can make a brand, person or company stand out instantly against millions of identical websites, making a lasting, memorable impression in the mind of its visitors.

Here is a collection of some of the most (in my opinion) visually impressive website design out there.

Magic co. by Ludmila Shevchenco

Stunning color flow that smoothly leads you to each new section on the page. Check out both the dynamic and static version.

Animated version.
Static version.

National Geographic by Gajan Vamatheva

Stunning photography coupled with geometric, modern shapes gives a 3D feel to this landing page, making you feel like you’re right there in the wild.

Tokyo Dreams by Nathan Riley

The right photography can make or break a good website design. Here the colors and overall feel are absolutely on point (a bit biased since I live in Tokyo, but still..). Transitions are a bit part of Nathan Riley and his creative agency’s portfolio.

Matterhorn by Timo Wagner

3D feel and sapient use of black and white contrasted with bright color.

Anything by Radesign

Any creation by this Parisian creative boutique is just sexy. The aesthetic, colors and layout effortlessly combine into a flawless digital work of art.

Bond Backerkit

Illustration it’s really the king here. (One of the web design trends of the year).

Volcano by Outcrowd

Once again illustration is the centre of it all. Unique style by the agency Outcrowd. (I highly recommend you to check out their Behance portfolio!)

Rendered by Serge Vasil

Colorful & bright yet balanced color palette is a pleasure on the eyes.

Too often we see the same layout, design or templates repeated all over the internet. But websites CAN be creative, artistic, original and unique. I hope this collection proved that and provided you a good source of inspiration. Let me know YOUR personal favorites in the comments section!

Stay tuned for other inspiration stories soon:)

PS: With STUDIO you can design fully responsive websites from scratch, without coding, without templates (if you don’t want there to be).
