The story of V.E. Schwab on lesbian vampires quickly became a cult. And now it’s a Netflix series…

First Kill is the supernatural and modern day version of Romeo and Juliet, the protagonists are Juliette and Calliope, one is a vampire from a prestigious family, the other is a young monster hunter who has just arrived in town. Both find themselves facing the important moment represented by the first kill….

Cast:

Episodes:

The series is created by Victoria Schwab who also executive produced alongside Felicia D. Henderson, Emma Roberts, and Karah Preiss. First Kill is based on Schwab’s short story of the same name. Schwab and Henderson will be co-writing the episodes.

Production was scheduled to begin in late 2021 in Savannah, Georgia

Thoughts:

We have to admit, vampire TV series always have a certain charm, a certain power over the public that remains, every time, captured by those extraordinary stories. When we talk about the supernatural it is as if there were a magnet that binds us, in some way, to the screen and makes us look forward to find out how that impossible love story between the vampire and her hunter will end.

This is just what happens with First Kill, the new Netflix vampire series just debuted on the streaming platform with eight episodes. The fact that the series is about a homosexual love could appear as the only refreshing element of this new TV series.

The story is composed of different conceptual layers that make it interesting, it has psychological substrates that show themselves gradually and lead to very interesting reflections on different topics such as the relationship between parents and children, the abuse of power, the bond between siblings, the love of an adoptive mother and much more…

It might seem like the usual teenage story but First Kill is a very pleasant series that gives something more than you might expect, and once finished, leaves us an incredible desire to see what else can happen in possible other seasons.

Duration per episode: 60 minutes
