Collaborative Campus Initiative
Have you ever diverted yourself from helping a peer because you wanted a better grade than them? Have you ever done online homework that gives you unlimited tries, so you just keep guessing until you get it right? These are just a few in an endless sea of reasons why college campuses have a competitive atmosphere.

Sponsors / Prizes
In order to reward students for signing the pledge, we have partnered with companies like Temple Coffee Roasters and Study Crews. We really want to thank all of our sponsors for their support in this campaign. Without their help, this campaign would not be what it is today. Now to talk about the prizes. Study Crews has provided us with 10 year long pro memberships to Study Blue. Temple Coffee Roasters has graciously contributed 3, $25 Temple gift cards. Study Space will be giving away 10 Study Space shot glasses, and Sticker Mule has provided us with some awesome 1x1 stickers for signing the pledge! Request a sticker by emailing us here. For the most up to date listing of sponsors and prizes make sure to head to the pledge page.
Stickers are available to anyone who signs the pledge, while randomly selected winners will receive all of the other prizes. We will pick the winners for the prizes from our sponsors on June 2, 2017. You can keep up with news about the initiative by saying “going” to our FB Event.

My Personal Experience
As a second year student here at UC Davis, I have noticed first hand students not getting the most out of their education or trying to get ahead of their peers. I am guilty of this just like many students.
During my first year, I took an introduction to computer science class. I considered this class to be one of my easiest until the end of the quarter when I was buried under assignments for all of my other classes that I neglected my program. The night the program was due, I panicked. I had only just started the program. I was running out of time. I reached out to one of my close friends to see if they could help me finish the program. I just wanted a grade. It didn’t have to be full credit, it just need to be partial credit. I just need something to turn in. My friend was able to explain enough about the program that, together, we were able to get enough of the program working for it to not destroy my grade in the class. I was saved.
I was more focused on getting the grades than understanding how the program worked. If I was struggling so hard to understand the concepts that the program covered, I should have gone to my professor’s office hours. I could have gone to the tutoring hours with DCSC. Doing work just to get the passing grade is not work you should be proud of.
We have all done some things that we aren’t particularly proud of to get ahead. We want to hear your stories too. Anonymously share the worst competitive classroom things you’ve done here. We might use it on the pledge page or in promotional material! Whatever you did in the past is done, sign the pledge to take the first step in changing the atmosphere of our campus.
Happy Studying,
