Flashbacks from London

I’ve been always wondering why thousands of people haven’t injured in car or “passers-by” accidents every day. How is it possible that 8 million people of different nationalities, always in the hurry, always busy, manage to coexist in this crowded, vibrant city. Then add 15 million tourists, who don’t seem to be mentally lost or distracted. Unbelievable. As a person, who fell in love with London at first sight, I am going to share my personal, sometimes vague ideas, memories, and reflections. Today Spot no.1 — Oxford Street.

Oxford Street

The most vibrant, wild shopping street in Europe. The paradise for every bargain hunter, fashion bloggers or just a common person. The variety of products, brands, prices, from Primark (1 pound for a T-shirt) to Dior, Burberry or Chanel. A place, where a man dressed as a monkey, a woman in nude costume, a girl with red hair are not controversial. Nobody’s care, so one can feel anonymous and free to express his originality.

Finally, a place where traffic rules do not exist. How is it possible that thousands of people are not injured in accidents every day? There is no border between the road and the pavement, double-decker buses are going one after another, the sound of claxon is heard everywhere. In this hustle and bustle is really easy to miss something — surprisingly, everybody is safe and sound. When I got into the bus, I was profoundly convinced that I was transported to an alternate reality, the world of magic, and the driver will introduce himself in a moment:

Welcome to the Knight Bus, emergency transport for the stranded witch or wizard. Just stick out your wand hand, step on board, and we can take you anywhere you want to go. My name is Stan Shunpike, and I will be your conductor this evening.
