Ellis Emerson Is Why We Do What We Do
Three days after her 32nd birthday, Ellis Emerson, a young mother to a 5-year old daughter, was diagnosed out of the blue with Stage III Melanoma. Life stopped on a dime, everything went fuzzy, and she knew things would never be the same again.
Ellis soon found Stupid Cancer and was offered a lifeline of support, and given the opportunity to feel normalized, connected to her peers, and made aware of the age-appropriate resources she didn’t know she needed to navigate with dignity and on her terms.
She attended CancerCon 2018, our annual 3-day gathering in Denver, and had her life completely transformed for the better. Experiencing CancerCon and being amongst hundreds of peers who understood what she was going through was the greatest gift she could have received.
No judgments. No stigma.
Just a community that gets it because they already “got it.”
With gratitude, she is now giving back.
Ellis is a special guest speaker at TOAST2018, Stupid Cancer’s annual Fall fundraiser in NYC NEXT THURSDAY, OCTOBER 11TH.

Proceeds from TOAST will support the inaugural CancerCon Scholarship Fund, paving the way to a more accessible, inclusive, and affordable experience for first-timer patients and survivors just like her; young adults who need this life-changing event to get inspired, get educated, get connected, get empowered, and get busy living.
Please join us next week, hear her story in person, and celebrate 12 years of making young adult cancer suck a whole lot less.
