We are so excited to announce that the nominations for the 2017 Get Busy Living Awards (GBLA) are now open! The Stupid Cancer Community is made up of cancer patients, thrivers, survivors, and caregivers who know the strength that can be found in solidarity.

The Get Busy Living Awards were created to celebrate members of the community who personify the young adult cancer movement and continually inspire the Stupid Cancer Community.

“…celebrates the survivorship of a young adult cancer patient, fighter or survivor, who chose to get busy living through their disease, and who embodies the spirit and energy of the young adult cancer movement.”

Dawn Scott, 2016 Get Busy Living Survivor Award Winner alongside her fellow nominees

Created in 2012, the Get Busy Living Survivor Award recognizes and celebrates the survivorship of a young adult cancer patient, fighter, or survivor, who chose to get busy living through their disease, and who embodies the spirit and energy of the young adult cancer movement. Since then, there have been five winners, each of which bring their own unique perspective to what it means to ‘Get Busy Living’. Check out the previous winners’ stories here.

This year marks the third year that Stupid Cancer has partnered with Hope For Young Adults with Cancer to present the Get Busy Living Survivor Award. The award recognizes a survivor who exemplifies the mantra of ‘Get Busy Living’ in their daily life and has a positive impact on the Stupid Cancer community and those who surround them.

“…created to recognize and celebrate the Caregiver of a young adult cancer patient, fighter or survivor who has provided an outstanding level of care and support while empowering their survivor to get busy living.”

Dan Crail, 2016 Get Busy Living Caregiver Award Winner alongside his fellow nominees

In 2016, the Get Busy Living Awards expanded to recognize Caregivers; an integral and growing part of the Stupid Cancer community. The Get Busy Living Caregiver Award presented in partnership with Chasing Rainbows Young Adult Cancer Advocacy was created to recognize and celebrate the Caregiver of a young adult cancer patient, fighter, or survivor who has provided an outstanding level of care and support while empowering their survivor to get busy living.

The Get Busy Living Awards allow us to shine a light on members of the Stupid Cancer community who exemplify the spirit, energy, and empowerment of the young adult cancer movement.
