THE LITTLE BLACK DRESS

Another versatile piece worth adding to your wardrobe is a little black dress. This is a dress that you can dress up, dress down, and wear to any occasion. For this blog post I collaborated with personal stylist Carla Nelson of “A Creative Cliche” to style one LBD for three different settings. We found an amazing selection of Little Black Dresses at Forema Boutique located in Winter Park, FL.

The secret to styling a basic for different occasions is in how you layer and accessorize.

LOOK ONE — CASUAL

To make this LBD casual Carla styled the dress with a silk bomber jacket (also from Forema). We loved the cherry blossom detail and bomber jackets are right on trend for this season.

“It’s amazing how such a classic and essential piece like the LBD can be turned trendy by the addition of a strong accessory. In this case — a silk bomber jacket.” — Carla Nelson

LOOK 2 — OFFICE (left)

To make this LBD office appropriate, Carla added a jacket with more structure, opted for a simpler necklace, and nude stilettos. (All from Forema boutique)

LOOK 3 — DATE (right)

To transition to date night she got rid of all layers, added a cute clutch, and went for some black strappy heels. (Clutch, Forema)

HOLIDAY LBD’s

Of course we can’t forget about the holidays right around the corner. Here are some options of little black dresses you can wear for the holiday parties coming up. (all from Forema)

What’s fun about fashion is that it allows you to be creative. For this first Holiday dress we styled the slip dress with a layered choker from Forema. Accessories can be just as versatile as a little black dress.

“Don’t get me wrong- fashion rules do exist and most of them are there to help. But one rule that doesn’t exist is that any one item can only be purposed one way.” — Carla Nelson

“Nothing says I’m going out with a bang like metallics, glitter, and sequins. Any one of these would be a great choice this and every holiday season.” — Carla Nelson
