THE WHITE BUTTON UP

In this series, we’re talking about the basics. Good basics lay a solid foundation for a great wardrobe.

They are pieces that you will get the most use out of. Considering you will get good use out of these items, they have a great cost per wear. Cost per wear is something you should consider when deciding on a purchase. How many times are you actually going to wear the item?

Let’s go with our first example of the white buttoned up shirt. You can buy an affordable white button up at Express for $49.90 (links below). We can think of at least 10 different ways to style a white buttoned up shirt! That means if you only wear this buttoned up shirt 10 different times in 10 different ways the cost of the shirt per wear is 49.90/10 = $4.99. Not bad! Let’s say that the shirt lasts for a year and you use it 5x a month- that’s 60 times. Now let’s calculate the cost per wear: 49.90/60 = .83! If you ask us- that’s a steal! Do you ever find yourself trying to justify your purchases? Us, too. If you can justify your purchase using cost per wear, you can make a purchase without feeling guilty forking over that hard earned dough.

Below are 10 different ways to style the white button up:
