Dream of the Rood Response
The poem “Dream of the Rood” is an Old English poem written by an unknown author written around the 8th century. This poem consists of different sections I see such as in the beginning it opens up about the image of the rood in which they call cross, which Christ was crucified on. The next section were about a dream or a vision the speaker had about the cross in which Christ died on. As well as the last section, in which I thought were of the speaker waking up from his vision and from that vision he decides to follow the path of Christ.
In conclusion, this poem I think is great for both Christian and non-Christian people. It tells a story in a unique way in which was like a vision from the speaker and portrays the stories of Christ’s death. Although reading this poem multiple times were a struggle for me since it was in Old-English but after reading the translated version helped me lots.
