Hello there!

Receive warmest greetings and best wishes for the year ahead from the SAIMUN team. We are delighted to be walking together with you this year once again.

The journey can only get even better and more so as we look forward to the SAIMUN19 Conference (more details on registration and further information shall be availed soon).

So now that a new year is here, what next?

Well one thing that we should not do in any new year is repeat past mistakes. This is the one way you will be able to get things right. The following three steps should help:

  1. Admit you made a mistake

Denial has never changed the truth or the facts. Making mistakes is something normal. It is in no way anything to be ashamed of. If anything, it shows that you made effort to take some steps towards achieving something despite there being mishaps. It’s okay! Own it.

2. Learn from it

Step 2 is to make sure you take away something from the mistake you made. This “something” is a lesson. Trace back your steps and see where you went wrong. From there find out what you would have done differently. When you get that, you have found your lesson.

“When you make a mistake, there are only three things you should ever do about it: admit it, learn from it, and don’t repeat it.” -Paul Bear Bryant-

3.Don’t repeat it

Move different after learning from your mistakes. That is the one sure way to make progress. Repeating them only takes you back and you would much rather get stuck in one spot for a while thinking of the next move than going back.

May 2019 be your best year yet!

Sub Saharan International Model United Nations (SAIMUN) is a five-day international relations simulation for both high school and university/college students that is held annually at the United Nations Office in Nairobi (UNON) Gigiri. The international meeting is attended by more than 800 students from all over the world, in which they debate the major issues of the international political agenda. SAIMUN19 now beckons all of us to once again take part. The theme is “Youth Leadership at its Peak:The role of the Youth In Sustainable Development” .

It will be held from 8th -12th July 2019, so make sure your calendars are marked!

SAIMUN also strives to offer an all-rounded journalism experience to the media team through simulating different media: a newspaper —
The Daily SAIMUNER, a video news channel on YouTube — SAIMUN News, this blog along with various social media platforms. To get all this and more, subscribe to our mailing list below.
