SAIMUN 2019
YOUTH LEADERSHIP AT ITS PEAK:THE ROLE OF THE YOUTH IN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT.
The title of today’s blog post is meant to bring to your attention the guiding theme for SAIMUN 2019.
This year, we hope to learn together which role(s) the youths can play in sustainable development. Thanks to the United Nations General Assembly, in the year 2015, the different Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were set.
The Sustainable Development Goals are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate, environmental degradation, prosperity, and peace and justice. The Goals interconnect and in order to leave no one behind, it is important that we achieve each Goal and target by 2030.
Even as we keep on preparing for the conference that runs from July 8th -12th 2019 we shall share information regarding the SDGs so that we each can get involved and ensure we achieve these goals.
We each have a part to play and the time is now!

Sub Saharan International Model United Nations (SAIMUN) is a five-day international relations simulation for both high school and university/college students that is held annually at the United Nations Office in Nairobi (UNON) Gigiri. The international meeting is attended by more than 800 students from all over the world, in which they debate the major issues of the international political agenda. SAIMUN19 now beckons all of us to once again take part. The theme is “Youth Leadership at its Peak:The role of the Youth In Sustainable Development” It will be held from 8th -12th July 2019, so make sure your calendars are marked!
