SUBSQUID 30.6.2023

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

[Copenhagen, Denmark] — Dmitry Zhelezov, co-founder and CEO of Subsquid, a leading Web3 indexing platform, announced today the successful launch of the Subsquid Network private testnet. His announcement came during his keynote address at the Polkadot Decoded event in Copenhagen. Several key Subsquid network smart contract-based features have been successfully deployed to the Arbitrum Goerli test network and the first external infrastructure providers are currently being onboarded to run testnet nodes.

Subsquid Network in its initial form will consist of a decentralized data lake powered by a distributed network of worker nodes that provide resources to extract and store historical on-chain. The protocol’s sharded design is easily scalable for the processing of massive quantities of data, such as that which will be produced by billion-user dApps. The network leverages recent innovations in distributed computing and data management, including DuckDB and Apache Parquet.

Zhelezov listed some startling facts about the network during his presentation in Copenhagen: For one, as a distributed data access layer for blockchain data tens of times cheaper and hundreds of times faster, the network stands to replace 90% of RPC data-read traffic. Second, he revealed his team’s long-term objective to minimize resource requirements of Subsquid indexers to such an extent that it will even be possible to run them on mobile phones and in browsers. This client-side indexing means that applications could serve data to users in a completely decentralized and privacy-preserving manner.

Anybody interested in running a node as a part of the Subsquid Network private testnet can fill out this form. The Subsquid team will publish the network roadmap, including expected public testnet and mainnet launch dates, in the near future.
