Just a few days ago, we announced the official launch of the beta program for Subsquid’s ETH indexing service and for squids on Ethereum. Today, we’d like to quickly answer a few questions we’ve received about getting started.

How do I join the program?
Simply fill out this form or contact our growth team directly. We will get back to you within 24 hours.

Who can participate in the beta?
This is an ‘open’ beta, which means we will accept any project into the program as long as it needs data from the Ethereum mainnet. If you need data from a Substrate-based chain (Polkadot, Kusama, or any of the parachains), feel free to use our production-ready SDK and service.

How much does the service cost?
Participation in the beta is absolutely free-of-charge!

When will I need to start paying?
Maybe, never! Subsquid is an open-source project, and the SDK will always be free to use. You may choose to host a squid Archive on your own, meaning you will not be required to pay anything to us at all.

We intend to implement a freemium subscription model for Subsquid’s hosted service sometime in the second half of 2023. Because of the unique way squids retrieve data, we expect the cost of these services to be much lower than the competition. We also plan to charge for the usage in stablecoins, avoiding token and cost volatility.

Our devs have never heard of squids… help!!!
No worries, we have a great integrations team on staff. Particularly in the early stages of the beta program, our team members will be helping participants build squids and integrate them into their platforms. We are still working hard on documentation and integration guides, so it helps us to help you!

If you are currently using a Subgraph, this migration guide may be of help. Our complete documentation can be found here.

Are there any bonuses for participants in the beta?
Each team will receive one Squid Squad NFT. Created by SFY Studios (one of the most popular artists in the Polkadot ecosystem), these NFTs will provide VERY useful utilities for Subsquid users, which we will reveal at a later date.

Can we co-market our participation in the beta?
Yes, of course! After you have been accepted into the beta program, you’ll be put in contact with our marketing team.

Got any other questions? Don’t hesitate to get in touch with us directly or using any of the channels below.
