Astar 101 — The first stop of 101 series about Polkadot and Kusama ecosystem
1️⃣ Astar Network is a smart contract parachain run on Polkadot, with its canary Shiden Network run on Kusama. Astar Network helps enhance Polkadot’s $7B+ security.
Astar is the FIRST parachain to have native support for both #WASM & #EVM, two most popular virtual machines.
2️⃣ To make it easier for developers to build #WASM DApps on Polkadot and Kusama, the Astar team has introduced Swanky Suite, the all-in-one WASM tool equivalent to @HardhatHQ or @trufflesuite EVM tooling.
3️⃣ Shiden Network is the first commercial parachain to support #WASM smart contracts, meaning that WASM DApps can now be deployed on Shiden💪Can’t wait to see the first one running🤩
4️⃣ For now, all major DApps running on Astar Network are EVM-compatible, such as ArthSwap, AstridDAO, Starlay Finance, locking a total of $73.7M.

5️⃣Astar Network encourages developers through dApp staking mechanism which you can now use within SubWallet extension.
As of September 8th , 17,182 stakers out of 451,761 $ASTR holders are locking $96,498,360 in DApp staking, accounting for 56.70% of overall TVL on Astar.
6️⃣ Astar Network announced on August 23 that the network had surpassed 5M transactions.
Markets where Astar has strongest presence include Japan, Indonesia, and the US.
7️⃣ As part of the Polkadot ecosystem, Astar Network can’t exclude #XCM
While Astar has opened XCM channels with Statemint Moonbeam Network & Acala Network, Shiden Network has done so with Statemine, Moonriver Karura Network & Oak Network’s Turing Network.
8️⃣ Among DAOs on Astar Network, Astar Degens, a global community-based VC #DAO, remains the strongest. Their treasury has grown 3.76 times within one month from July to August 2022, with its current value approximating $24K.
9️⃣ Probably the weakest point currently is the Astar Portal, but @AstarNetwork has plans to launch Astar Portal V2 by the end of 2022.
Other strategies shared by @WatanabeSota include onboarding the Japan and US markets, pushing XCM and HRMP channels & building Swanky.
