SubWallet Completes Substrate Builders Program Milestone #1
We are beyond excited to announce that SubWallet has completed the first Milestone of the Substrate Builders Program, a program founded by Parity to offer extensive and comprehensive support to projects developed in the Substrate ecosystem. Starting April 2022, SubWallet has participated in the Infrastructure track with a firm commitment to finish three milestones in nine months.
For three months of Milestone #1, our team has concentrated on building a fully and smoothly functional non-custodial wallet. After allowing users to display and transfer NFTs on Substrate-based platforms including RMRK, Acala, Unique, KodaDot, and Bit.Country, we extended support for EVM assets on Moonbeam, Moonriver, Astar and Shiden with the MetaMask compatibility component, meaning that users can easily import their MetaMask accounts using private keys and manage both ERC-20 and ERC-721 tokens in our extension wallet.
As soon as XCM was available on Polkadot, we were the first wallet to enable in-app XCM transfer, initially on Moonbeam, Moonriver, Acala, Karura and Kintsugi and constantly extending to other tokens and networks. Knowing beforehand that too many functions running at the same time can be resource-consuming and lead to high latency, our team quickly enabled the Custom Networks feature. Now, users have the choice to turn on and off more than 70 chains according to their own needs. Additionally, in the spirit of complete decentralization, SubWallet was one of the first to integrate Substrate Connect’s light client.
Moving on to Milestone #2 and #3, we veer our focus towards security and user experience optimization. SubWallet v0.5.4 supports QR Signer for Parity Signer and Stylo while offering full support for Ledger, including wallet connecting and transaction signing. The introduction of the Multi-sig feature in Milestone #3 in the next few months will complete the full stack so that users have layers of security backing their assets in SubWallet.
In terms of UI/UX enhancement, more features are being made available to ensure utmost convenience for our end-users. Both EVM DApp connect and in-app staking on Substrate and EVM networks were first launched on SubWallet: at the time of writing, we have integrated 10 EVM DApps and supported staking in 10 networks.
The much-anticipated mobile version of SubWallet on iOS and Android, also the last remaining task in Milestone #2 of the Substrate Builders Program, is expected to be finished by the end of Q3. In the near future, on-ramp and swap asset features will be available on SubWallet so that users can easily buy crypto from fiat and swap tokens at a reasonable fee.
By teaming up with Parity in the Substrate Builders Program, SubWallet has received timely support to develop the ultimate Web3 Multiverse Gateway for the Substrate ecosystem. We will continue to build SubWallet with the view to actualizing our mission of onboarding new users to the ecosystem and opening the Web3 universe.
