How Rickie Fowler & Success Series Will Disrupt the Sports Industry with Mixed Reality

It didn’t seem like it was very long ago when people scoffed at the idea of viewing sports — or anything for that matter — in virtual reality. Hell, even I said that it was a bit loopy.

“It’ll just be a phase”

Boy, was I wrong!

The potential for virtual and augmented reality is beyond comprehension. The ability to transport your mind to another world in VR or bring another world right to your living room in AR is closer than you imagine.

For commercial uses, we are seeing many companies turn to augmented reality so consumers can test out products in their homes before going to the store and physically be buying them. It’s like testing on clothes in a dressing room before deciding on what pair of pants looks the best on your figure.

But we are really close that too. Soon there will be no need to leave your house to try on clothes, shoes, or anything else. It will be like dressing your avatar in a video game. The only difference is you are the avatar in person and clothes magically appear on your body in AR.

Virtual reality is changing the way we play video games and train people in sports or engineering. I have seen all too often in the last year how sports franchises are turning to virtual reality to let players simulate live situations on the field to prepare for the ‘real thing’.

Soon enough you won’t need to be a major-league franchise to harness the power of VR and AR for your own personal sporting needs. Success Series has set out on a mission to disrupt the coaching atmosphere by transporting you to the field or court where elite, championship athletes will train you in the ways of their sport.

Soon enough, through advances in AR, we will be able to bring the championship athletes to your living room. Regardless, the ability to learn from the athletes themselves — guys like Rickie Fowler — is worth more than any lessons you’ll get from some random ‘range pro’. All of these coaches in real life may be ‘certified’, but I can guarantee that very few of them have pitched in Dodger Stadium during the World Series or walked Augusta National in the final round of The Masters.

Coaching experiences with top-tier athletes were not possible before the creation of Success Series. What used to be a luxury will now be a necessity for the development of an athlete’s game.
