Facebook’s Oculus Go headsets have finally hit the market. These stand-alone virtual reality headsets will be retailing at $200 for a 32 GB headset ($250 for 64GB).

This is another big step in the right direction for the development of virtual reality. There is not only a need for high-quality headsets, but ones that do not need a computer or smartphone.

Having to insert your smartphone into a pair of goggle can be annoying if you have texts — or other alerts — coming in and if your phone is not up to standard for VR experiences. The Oculus Go has over 1,000 VR channels, games, and experiences already built into the system. All that is left for you to do it put on the goggles and begin the viewing experience.

Some apps you may want to check out are Hulu, Netflix, and a myriad of games like Rush. Some applications are free while others range from $2 — $20.

The easy-to-use Oculus Go controller will allow you to navigate your experiences seamlessly.

The Oculus Go brings the VR experiences to life through the surround-sound system in the goggles. In case you don’t want others around you to hear your VR experience, the goggles have a 3.5 mm jack to plug your headphones into.

Another advantage of not using your phone for these VR glasses is the quality of the picture, as the Oculus Go creates a crystal-clear vision and optimized 3D graphics. The lag won’t be an issue as the software and hardware work hand-in-hand to deliver stunning VR content to your eyes.

These glasses may be the most spectacular pair to hit the market in 2018. But in hindsight, they have simply set the bar for future goggles and glasses of the future. Google, HTC, and Apple will now have to reach this benchmark if they want to succeed in this market.
