First of all, let’s talk about why your hunger fades away when you begin to feel anxious. It is entirely reasonable for this to happen since appetite and stress are directly related.

A survey conducted in 2013 by the American Psychological Association showed that 30% of adults had skipped a meal due to stress over the previous month. 41% of those adults reported doing so multiple times per week and as many as 67% of them indicated that this was because of a lack of appetite.

So, as you can see, it is reasonable to experience a lack of appetite when under an unusually high level of stress, and this happens to many people in all parts of the world.

In a similar survey, in 2015, also conducted by the American Psychological Association, 31% of the adults who participated admitted to skipping a meal as a result of elevated stress levels.

Many of us will experience elevated stress levels at some point in our lives, especially during times of national or global upheaval.
