Global Call with Award of 100K Euro for Most Innovative Energy Start-ups
EIT InnoEnergy, the biggest cleantech accelerator of Europe, will support 20 best start-ups with a tailored program that includes the support of technology development, access to the European market, team creation and funding access. Also, one startup among them will win €100,000 cash.
Who is InnoEnergy?
EIT InnoEnergy is a leading engine for innovation and entrepreneurship in sustainable energy and trusted innovation ecosystem, provides significant support and investment opportunities for startups from seed to growth capital.
Since 2011, InnoEnergy portfolio startups generated €40M in sales, saved €809.5M in energy costs, brought energy access to 56,000 people in developing countries.
InnoEnergy has also set up a network of more than 430 organizations, including top rank industries, research centers and universities across Europe.
Sabancı University Inovent A.Ş has been InnoEnergy Hub Turkey since 2017 to provide assistance to early-stage entrepreneurs and startups works in energy and clean technologies sectors and ready for global growth.

What is the GLOBAL CALL?
The energy transition drives need for global call!
Demand for sustainable energy solutions is rapidly increasing. As a trusted partner and smart investor, EIT InnoEnergy plays a pivotal role in accelerating sustainable energy innovations and wants to help make your company a global success!

Who can apply and how?
Anyone with a great idea can apply for the Global Call: established start-ups or those ready to get going.
Here are the evaluation criteria:
Your idea should have applications in any of the following thematic areas:
- Energy for transport and mobility
- Energy storage
- Renewable energy
- Smart and efficient buildings and cities
- Energy efficiency
- Circular economy
- Smart electric grid
- Nuclear instrumentation
- Any other sustainable energy innovation!
If you are a startup outside of Europe, it doesn’t matter. You can still apply and be supported by InnoEnergy with the creation of a subsidiary in Europe which will give you access to the European market.

What happened at the Global Call 2018?
10 winning finalists in InnoEnergy’s global call for the most innovative start-ups in the world of electrical energy storage traveled to Amsterdam and pitched to an expert high-profile jury and an audience of industry and investors in a bid to win a cash prize of €100,000.
Battrion and instagrid were the winners of the Global Call for Electrical Storage Startups in 2018.
Battrion, a Swiss-based start-up, boasts a unique storage solution for lithium-ion batteries aimed to increase the charging speed of high energy density cells. The technology focuses on improving the structure of the battery during the manufacturing process, enabling faster charging.
instagrid is a German start-up that has developed a portable battery for applications with a high energy density demand. This solution offers a portable power supply that will help professionals in sectors such as construction to work fully electrically, whenever and wherever they want.
All finalists got the opportunity to enter the Highway or Boostway programs of InnoEnergy, ensuring valuable assistance and mentoring in all key aspects: technology marketing and sales, team building, industrialization and financing.
They also had a chance to access InnoEnergy’s network of more than 430 partners.
