Interval 7: telegraph or telegram
June 9, 2024
According to grammarist.com, Telegraph refers to the technology and the communications system. A telegram is a message sent via telegraph.
1944, the year, Samuel Morse working with a team of scientists, engineers, etc., sent the first message over wire — the telegraph.
“What hath God wrought?”
According to the Library of Congress, Morse “asked Congress for the $30,000 that would allow him to build a telegraph line from Washington to Baltimore, forty miles away. The House of Representatives eventually passed the bill containing the Morse appropriation, and the Senate approved it in the final hours of that Congress’s last session. With President Tyler’s signature, Morse received the cash he needed and began to carry out plans for an underground telegraph line.”

I’m not sure about what’s going on. What’s stopping me from telling you this story. Sometimes it’s as though this vice, this grip on my soul — is stopping me. What is it? Oh gosh, this is so hard. Or is it? Right? Maybe I should go back to the beginning. No, not my beginning, but her beginning — at least a part of it.
Break Break — that was me two years ago, 2022. And here I am … at first, I was putting myself down for moving ever so slowly, but, I’m not so sure now. I’m thinking. It’s the timing. Right?
And timing is relative. To what though. Ugh. Oh God, what’s going on? What is happening?
The timing is relative.
I guess sometimes you go to the past to understand the present and look towards the future.
