Did you know that Ice Cream is a BILLION dollar industry? Try MULTI-Billion! In a few short years, it will be a Trillion Dollar business.

In fact, it may well already be a trillion dollar business, because the study below included only the world’s top FOUR ice cream companies.

According to a 2018 study done by ResearchAndMarkets.com the global ice cream market was worth US$ 57.7 Billion in 2018. The study projected a steady increase of that marketplace, reaching US$ 91.2 Billion by 2024.

To put this into perspective:

The average American consumes more than 23 pounds of ice cream per year. Regular ice cream is the most popular category of frozen desserts. U.S. ice cream companies made more than 898 million gallons of regular ice cream in 2015.” ~idfa.org

The International Dairy Foods Association says the top ten most favorite Ice Cream flavors are:

  • Vanilla
  • Chocolate
  • Cookies N’ Cream
  • Mint Chocolate Chip
  • Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
  • Buttered Pecan
  • Cookie Dough
  • Strawberry
  • Moose Tracks
  • Neapolitan

Not only is Vanilla the perennial flavor, but it leads the list in sales because it is found in bars, cones and other confections.

Don’t Bore Me With History!

I love tidbits of history, and I never in a million years would have guessed the where and when origins of ice cream.
