I sugar-dated after my divorce. It was an experience that I both loved and hated. Part of me felt reenergized by dating older men who spoiled me after the traumatic end of my marriage. Part of me despised the entitled male behavior, the expectation that I existed to make my sugar daddies feel good.

Again, after feeling screwed over by my ex, this was a hard pill to swallow. But still, I kept on with the sugar dating thing for six months. I’d had a fantasy about this world and I wanted to see it through.

I wasn’t quite sure whether sugar dating was actually dating or whether it was sex work. Whatever it was, I’d soon come to discover that things worked quite differently on a sugar dating website than they did on a traditional dating one.

One thing that was distinct in the sugar dating realm was that women far outnumber men. Upwards of 62% of users are men on traditional dating platforms (apps). Women are overwhelmed with requests to meet.

Conversely, on sugar dating websites, there are four times as many women as men. Because of this, women must become hunters if they want to be successful at sugar dating.
