SUKU Community, please give a warm welcome to the latest addition of our Advisory Board — Professor Campbell Harvey!

Professor Harvey is a world-renowned Finance and Blockchain Professor at Duke University and a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research. He completed his doctorate in Finance at the University of Chicago and has published over 125 scholarly articles on a wide range of topics. He is also a Partner to Research Affiliates, LLC and an Investment Strategy Advisor to Man Group, PLC contributing to both research and product design. Professor Harvey is the sponsor of the Duke Blockchain Lab opened with SUKU earlier this year.

An Early Start in Blockchain Technology

Professor Harvey was one of the earliest academics to see the potential of blockchain technology. Over the past six years, he’s taught a course called Innovation and Cryptoventures at Duke. Professor Harvey mentions, “in the beginning my course focused on the first mover, bitcoin, but now it has morphed into an interdisciplinary course covering a wide range of applications from decentralized finance to supply chain mechanics. We focus on both the inner workings of various blockchain technologies as well as the most promising applications.”

“When I first started teaching and doing research this new field, not many students were interested and my academic colleagues thought blockchain was just a fad. It is a completely different story today with blockchain being integrated into the curriculum throughout Duke University,” remarked Harvey.

Working with SUKU

Professor Harvey will provide strategic advice and insights to SUKU, including guidance on ecosystem structure and incentive mechanisms. He states, “This is a very exciting opportunity for both me and my students to be involved in ‘live cases’ which, in contrast to historical case analysis, involves real-time applications of blockchain technology. SUKU has a very promising vector and I look forward to helping them navigate this complex space.”

We’re thrilled to have Professor Harvey’s expertise and domain knowledge contributing to SUKU. Welcome, Professor Harvey!
