Lot’s of Cs in the news lately week, and no, we don’t mean Collin Kapernick but they are related to the very thing that brought us here today: Coffee.
Big news in the world of Big Soda: Coca-Cola has announced plans to acquire U.K. coffee chain Costa Coffee for $5.1 billion (we’ll spare you the amount of zeros) . This comes as coffee is projected to expand 31.7% over the next five years to become a 257-billion-dollar industry.
It’s just a sign of the times — big soda is in trouble, as millennials turn to coffee and healthier beverages, big companies are trying to turn fresh, single-origin beans into a mass produced candy drink, but you can’t sacrifice the purity of the bean for those corporate bonuses. ✌
