Summee Newsletter #3: Creating Something Great
Hi again Summee users, thanks for checking back in for another edition of the Sumeee Newsletter. If this is your first time checking out the site, welcome. We hope all users are enjoying their experience and getting what they are looking for when coming to the site. For those of you who read the first letter, you may remember us mentioning how part of our mission is our desire to create something great. We wanted to mention this again because any return user can notice the consistent change that our site has undergone, and will continue to undergo. We truly enjoy getting the feedback of our users, and our team constantly discusses how we can change and manipulate the site in order to give our users a better experience. We’ve received feedback, specifically from college students, who really enjoy the site and feel it has helped save them time and stress as they find themselves drowning in reading assignments. If you’re reading, feel free to send us an email or message on Instagram or Twitter to let us know how we’re doing and what we can do better.
- What’s New for the Week
Along with the constantly updating set of the most popular recent Summees that can be found on the front page, we have one new major update to the site for this week. In the top right corner of the webpage, users can now search for summaries, to see if other users have summarized a text that they are looking for, or if they happen to be interested in a topic and want to read some summaries of articles/readings that they might want to delve into.
- Weekly Summaries Review
We continue to get all sorts of text submitted for summarization, including the aforementioned multitude of college class reading assignments as well as articles that seem to be for leisure reading. As big sports fans, we’re biased to one of the articles summarized this week. Two of our readers summarized the article “How Popular is Baseball Really?” from the New York Times (https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2019/10/22/sports/baseball/baseball-popularity-world-series.html?action=click&module=Editors%20Picks&pgtype=Homepage). From reading a quick Summee, you can see that “America’s pastime” doesn’t seem to just be a thing of the past. For those interested, the full article is a solid read, check it out if you have some free time.
- What to Look for Next
In terms of next steps for the site, we are currently planning a redesign to make the site even easier to use. Additionally, we are constantly improving the way we create summaries to give our users the best content possible. Continue to look out for social media content on our Instagram page @SummeeSummaries, including a short Summee tutorial video that will be released shortly.
Have a great week and keep summarizing,
The Summee Team
