This is a great TED presentation by Cynthia Breazeal about social robots.

It is interesting to see the impact a robot adopting human non-verbal behaviours has on things like people’s engagement with the technology.

The question is how does the robot choose which is the appropriate response? I’m sure I can find this out.

From the video, it seems that the timing of the response isn’t too much of an issue, as Leo’s response does seem a little slow. Having said that, it is appropriate to the context. What if the interaction was in a business meeting? Would a response time that is slower than normal human responses be an issue?
