New fundings for research, innovation and knowledge transfer activities

The General Directorate for Innovation and Research announces a line of grants for SMEs and non-profit groups that carry out research, technological development or innovation activities to lead actions in the field of knowledge transfer and innovative activities.

The applications must contribute to the execution of the Regional Research and Innovation Strategy for the Smart Specialization of the Balearic Islands (RIS3) and be considered of interest and relevance by the Science, Technology, Innovation and Emprenedoria Plan (PCTIE) of the Illes Balears 2013–2017.

Individuals and / or legal persons who meet the definition of small or medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), private non-profit associations whose purpose is research, technological development and / or innovation, may also benefit from this funding as well as actions carried out in a coordinated manner between this type of entity (SMEs and non-profit entities)

The objective is to offer innovation aids that involve either the introduction of a new product, service, production process or organization and market, or a method of significantly improved process and / or organization, that increase demand, productivity, competitiveness or the differentiation of an entity in relation to its reference field. The amount of these grants can be 50% in projects, and 100% for innovation advisory services (up to a maximum of € 20,000).

The expenses that may be subsidized with these grants will be for innovation in terms of processes and / or organization:

  • Expenses of non-managerial personnel (researchers, technicians, auxiliary personnel, dedicated to acting) with a maximum of 60% of the action.
  • Instrument and material expenses.
  • Contractual research expenses, knowledge and acquired rights obtained by external license, as well as consultancy expenses.

On the other hand, for innovations that are not related to processes and / or organization, the following expenses may be subsidized:

  • Expenses for obtaining, validating and defending patents and other intangible assets.
  • Sending expenses on secondment of highly qualified personnel from a research and knowledge dissemination body or a large company, working in research, development and innovation activities in a function recently created in the beneficiary entity and that does not replace other staff.
  • Innovation advisory services: feasibility studies for the incorporation of innovations or research and technological development activities, consultancy, assistance and training in the fields of knowledge transfer, acquisition, protection and exploitation of intangible assets, and the use of norms and regulations that incorporate them.
  • Innovation support services: data banks; technical libraries; market study; use of laboratories; labeling, testing and quality certification. Support services for innovation, implementation and certification will also be considered in accordance with standards UNE 166.001-R + D + projects (or equivalent), and UNE 166.002 -R & D + i Management Systems (or equivalent), by entities specialized in the implementation of these systems.

This call has a maximum amount of 400,000 euros and the grants will be co-financed by 50% through the Operational Program of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) 2014–2020 of the Balearic Islands and by 50%, through the funds of the Balearic Islands Regional Government.

The deadline for submitting applications will be 30 business days from the day following the date of publication in the BOIB (until August 3, 2018).
