Dear SunLovers,

We have listened to your feedback and are pleased to inform you that we’ve acted on a number of them by implementing some upgrades to the SunContract platform. But before we dive into them…

Do you have any more feedback? We’d love to hear it! You can chat with members of our team on Telegram, where we’re always active.

Now, for the upgrades:

1. Additional Payment Methods — SNC & EUR

Prior to this update: SunContract energy consumers made their electricity payments primarily in Euros. For example, if a consumer had both EUR and SNC on the platform, they would automatically be charged in EUR until there were no more EUR left. Only then, would they be charged in the remaining available currency — SNC currency.

After this update: Energy consumers on the SunContract platform have the option to select their preferred payment option. They can opt for EUR, and they can now also opt to make their payments primarily using SNC tokens.

⚙ To change your payment preferences, simply:

  • Log in to your account by going to: https://suncontract.energy
  • Click on the <<Electricity>> tab
  • Select the <<My Meters>> section
  • Select the <<Contract>> tab
  • The payment preference option will be in this tab under the <<Details>> of every Contract.

2. EURO Withdrawal Now Available for Producers

Prior to this update: A producer could only withdraw SNC tokens by him/herself on the platform. If he/she needed to withdraw EUR, they had to send an email to the team for us to authorise the withdrawal on our end.

After this update: Producers can now withdraw EUR on the platform in the same way that they withdraw SNC tokens. They have to add their IBAN (bank account number) and after confirmation from our site, they can withdraw the EUR directly on the platform. There is no longer a need to email us for EUR withdrawals.

⚙ To withdraw EUR, producers simply need to:

  • Log in to your account by going to: https://suncontract.energy
  • Click on the <<Profile>> tab
  • Click on the <<Funding>> section
  • Select the <<Withdraw>> option
  • Use the drop-down arrow to select <<Withdraw EUR>> option

3. Easier Monitoring Navigation

Prior to this update: If a customer wanted to monitor their energy consumption or production data for a particular date, they needed to click right or left on the graph, from the current date, until they arrived at the specific date whose data they were looking for.

After this update: Energy customers can now enter the exact date whose data they would like to access, instead of having to click right/left a couple of times. This feature was highly requested by our community members and so we are very happy to deliver it to you.

To monitor your energy production or/and consumption:

Daily, weekly, monthly and yearly data is available under this tab.

4. Minimum Balance Changes

Prior to this update: The minimum balance for residential customer accounts was 1000 SNC tokens. This balance was unlocked, and could go towards electricity payments of the customer, if they failed to top up their account on time.

After this update: The minimum balance will be locked. For example, if a customer has 1000 SNC tokens in his account, and his minimum balance requirement is 1000 SNC tokens, he will have to top up his account with additional funds as we won’t take electricity payments from this minimum balance. Additionally, going forward, the minimum balance will be adjusted to reflect the previous invoice of a consumer (in EUR, and then converted to SNC).

Those unaffected by this change:

  • Consumers with net metering
  • Existing customers

Consumers with net metering will continue to have a minimum balance of 1000 SNC tokens. Existing customers will also be unaffected by the new minimum balance requirements. The only difference for these two customers is that this balance will be locked going forward, as opposed to going towards electricity payments as was the case before.

Marketplace and Minimum balance:

In order for customers to use the Marketplace, they will need to have more funds on the platform than the minimum balance. Failure to have more funds than the minimum balance means that the settlement will be done at the agreed upon contract price with the platform. These customers will lose the opportunity to trade at lower prices directly with producers on the marketplace. However, they will still have one month to pay their electricity bill before their minimum balance is used to pay their outstanding bill. After this, we will beging the procedure for offboarding.

5. Individual Deals Tab — Revamped!

We have completely revamped the Individual Deals tab, making its design resemble our marketplace interface for easier platform get-around. The main difference with this overhaul is in the placing of orders.

For the sake of avoiding confusion, and for better understanding of the platform, we will define both the Marketplace and Individual Deals tabs.

Marketplace: Marketplace tab is where peers who don’t know each other trade electricity with one another on the SunContract platform.

Individual Deals: Individual Deals tab is where people who know each other personally (for example friends, family members, neighbours and colleagues) can trade electricity with one another by simply entering the recipient or producer’s email address in this section for individual deals.

Prior to this update: Energy producers on the platform had to invite consumers whom they knew personally by sending them an email. Only once the offer was received in the consumer’s email and the steps followed to accept the offer, did the two enter an individual agreement with one another.

After this update: All existing individual deals will be cancelled! Going forward, producers no longer need to invite consumers that they know personally via email. All they need to do now, is to enter the email address of the consumer in the <<Individual Deals>> section, and the consumer will then see this offer in their <<Individual Deals>> section on the platform. When a producer sends an individual deal to a consumer, only this specific consumer will see the deal in their Individual Deals tab. Consumer’s can also send orders to producers they know in the same fashion. If a consumer sends a specific producer an order, this order will only appear in the Individual Deals tab of the given producer.

We have also added in this section an option to select range of the deal. If a producer selects the range of for example 1.8.2019-31.12.2019, the consumer will see orders with that price in August, September, October, November and December. So, the consumer will have to accept 5 deals.

We are working on one additional major update which we will share with community in coming weeks. In the meantime, we want to thank you all for your support for the project, and we wish you a sunny summer! 😎

Cheers,
