The Stages Of A Kabul Attack (Late Night Edition)
So because it’s Kabul and shit happens you sometimes get woken up in the middle of the night by stuff blowing da fuck up. Which is disorienting, terrifying, and life affirming once you realize you’ve got all your parts and the people you know in this town also have theirs.
And so since no one’s got new holes in them, well, then, it’s time to deal with this shit the only way I know how. Which means I can come across as a callous turd.
That’s a fair assessment.
And because no one asked, here’s a look at what it’s like (for me) during/after an attack. I call this the late night edition because all this kicked off around 1:30 in the morning this time around. The daylight ones are about the same.

Stages Of A Late-Night Attack In Kabul
WTAF was that?
Well, we’re all still alive, so it wasn’t us.
Shit. Was it anyone we know?
Wait. It wasn’t. Anyone else dead or dying?
Oh. There were. Lots of them.
Well, then, let me just tamp all that right down…
…and go work my shit out on Twitter.
