Your First Augur Trade in 2 Minutes, Using Guesser
Place your first prediction in just three clicks
(Updated January 27, 2020)
Two minutes. Three clicks.
That’s all you’ll need to jump in and place your first trade on Augur, where you can earn ETH for accurately predicting anything. We’ll use Guesser, a simple, betting-focused UI that lets you play in Augur markets.
This tutorial assumes you have a MetaMask wallet with ETH. If not, see this first. If you‘re in the U.S., you may need VPN to use Guesser. Alternatively, you may use the native app, but if so, beware of Invalid markets.
Step 1: Choose What to Predict
When you land on Guesser, you’ll see the hottest markets. They encompass politics, sports, and crypto. Each market is framed as a question, and you will choose an outcome to bet on.

Who will win the Super Bowl?
Click on whatever market most intrigues you.
Step 2: Place a Wager
Once you’re on the market page, Guesser will show you the odds or payout ratio for each potential outcome.
On the top-right corner of the page, you may select the style you want the odds displayed in: American, Decimal, or Probability. The images in this tutorial use the “Probability” display, which shows the percentage likelihood of each outcome like on the prediction market site, PredictIt.
Select the outcome you’d like to bet on and enter how much you’d like to wager. The display is in dollars by default, but you can toggle to ETH if you prefer.
Step 3: Confirm Transaction
Once you click the Predict button, a confirmation box will display what outcome you’re betting on, how much you’re betting, and the winning payout. If everything looks good, click “Confirm Bet.”
Now the only thing left is to verify the transaction on MetaMask. The MetaMask window may automatically pop up after a few seconds, but if not you can click on the extension icon. Feel free to calibrate the gas or just click “confirm” if everything looks good.
Once your transaction goes through, you’ll be able to see your position under “My Predictions” on the top-right of Guesser.
And that’s it! You’ve now placed your first Augur trade, and are an official early adopter of the world’s first open and free prediction marketplace. Congrats and happy predicting!
