From the early ‘00s to ‘10s, fighting games were all the rage. It seemed like almost every major developer had their own fighting game franchise. The major players at the time were (and still are): Street Fighter, Tekken, Virtua Fighter, and Mortal Kombat. But maybe the mainline entries in those franchises aren’t your cup of tea. Well, don’t worry; I’m here to suggest a few of my favorite fighters which range from big hits to hidden gems. Let’s get started.

Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001

Released on arcades in 2001 and consoles (Dreamcast, PS2, XBOX, and GameCube) in 2003, this is the sixth instalment in the Capcom Vs. series. The gameplay and presentation is like Street Fighter.

In Capcom Vs. SNK 2 you can select three characters from the varies games by Capcom and SNK like Morgan from Darkstalkers, or Terry Bogard from King of Fighters. The three characters can range using different ratios; one player may have a ratio of four (the strongest), and ratio one (the weakest).
